DM6437 chip and pin map orientation

Hi All,

I would like to ask a question on chip orientation.

In SPRS345d, the bottom view pin map put numbers 1..19 as columns and letters W..A as rows.

But on an EVM I examine, I found that labels such as “TMS320xxx” are aligned in A..W direction. Since people read with the letter alignment direction horizontal to them, this would suggest A..W as columns and 1..19 as rows in the pin map.

Why there is the difference? Could anyone explain to me?

Please look at the mechanical drawing of the package at the end of the TMS320DM6437 datasheet (SPRS345). This is how the pins are oriented on the package.

Dear Brandon,

So if we put the letters "DaVinci" "TMS320xxx" into the mechanical data drawing, they appears aligning vertically?

Zheng,

There is always a pin 1 (A1) marker on the device. This must be aligned with the data sheet and mechanical drawing.

Never use the text as an alignment.

Dear Steve,

In this picture, the text on chip's top surface aligns in the direction with A-W, and this direction is orthogonal with direction indicated by 1..19. This is a ZWT chip, so all DM6437 ZWT chips are like this in that their top texts/legends are aligned to the A..W direction?

As I say, never use the text as an alignment. The pin 1 marker is what is important.

Your annotations are otherwise correct though.
