TDA4VM: About SPRUIL1A (DRA829 / TDA4VM / AM752x Technical Reference Manual)

Part Number: TDA4VM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRA829,

Hi,

I have a question about SPRUIL1A (DRA829 / TDA4VM / AM752x Technical Reference Manual).

①"12.3.6.5.2.3.2 Tuning Modes" describes Re-Tuning Modes 1 and 2.

Does Re-Tuning Mode support only Mode1 and  Mode2?

Does it mean that Mode3 cannot be used?

②If question ① is yes Mode3 cannot be set in the following registers, right?

The register description below states that "RETUNING MODES" should be set to 2h.

If 2h is set, it will be Re-Tuning Mode3.

12.3.6.6.5.4 MMCSD12_SS_CTL_CFG_3_REG Register

12.3.6.6.8.27 MMCSD12_CAPABILITIES Register

③The register description below states that "Core supports only the Software Timer based Re-Tuning."

Does this mean that it supports both "Re-Tuning Request" and "expiration of a Re-Tuning Timer"?

"12.3.6.6.8.27 MMCSD12_CAPABILITIES Register" states that "Re-Tuning Request" and "expiration of a Re-Tuning Timer" can be used.

12.3.6.6.5.4 MMCSD12_SS_CTL_CFG_3_REG Register

  • Hi Yamada-san,

Sorry for the delayed response, we will get back to you on this.

In the meantime, I hope you have also had a look at this related application note.

    Regards

    Karthik

  • Yamada-san,

    Apologies for the delay.

    1. Yes, Mode 3 is not available.  The default setting should actually be 0x0 so you use the internal re-tuning timer.

    2. The TRM has a typo; programmed value should be 0h instead of 2h.  I will submit a ticket to have this updated.

    3. The description means core supports only Mode 1 (0h), which is the re-tuning timer.  Re-tuning request is not supported on this device.

    Best Regards,

    Shiou Mei
