SK-AM64: Bootable Linux SD-Card image

Part Number: SK-AM64

Hi,

When bootable (.win) image of Linux-RT for SK-AM64 board (preconfigured by startup procedure - power, PLL, DDR, memory mapping) is planning to release by time roadmap? I tried standard version from SDK and it doesn't boot properly.

Thanks,

Alexey

  • Hello Alexey,

We offer both Linux and RT Linux SDKs for AM64x here:
    https://www.ti.com/tool/PROCESSOR-SDK-AM64X

What version of the SDK are you using? (7.2 or 7.3?) Please post the errors that you see when "it doesn't boot properly".

    Regards,

    Nick

  • Hello Nick,

After reset this goes to UART (boot mode SD/MMC)

Images taken from Processor SDK Linux 07_03_00_02: tisdk-base-image-am64xx-evm.wic and tisdk-default-image-am64xx-evm.wic

    And nothing happens.

Another strange behavior is successful booting from onboard Flash using SPI-boot instead of OSPI.

    Regards,

    Alexey

  • Hello Alexey,

I am not sure what you are showing with your screenshot. It would probably be more useful for us if you copied the terminal output into a text file and attached it to your post.

Have you verified that the boot mode switches are set properly as per the EVM User Guide?

    Regards,

    Nick

  • UART output after reset:

  • Hello Alexey,

I have reassigned this to our Linux boot owner. They are on vacation this week, please ping the thread if you have not received a reply by next week.

    Regards,

    Nick

  • Hi Alexey.
There'll be a up-coming SDK release (07.03.01.006), currently scheduled to be available next week.
Please stay tuned for the newer SDK for running on AM64x SK board.
    Best,
    -Hong

  • Hong,

    I tried this new release.

    The resulted boot process:

  • Nick,

At least, now I have source code for a bootloader. Probably I need to spend time to study it, make some modifications and recompile it myself.

I hope EEPROM data is totally valid.

    Alexey

  • Hi Alexey,

I verified the new SDK release (07.03.01.006) downloadable from
    www.ti.com/.../PROCESSOR-SDK-LINUX-AM64X
I created the SD card using the WIC image
    software-dl.ti.com/.../tisdk-default-image-am64xx-evm.wic.xz
by following the SD card creation instruction
    software-dl.ti.com/.../Create_SD_Card.html

I tested SD booting on AM64x GP EVM (I currently don't have access to AM64x SK board), and uploaded the full boot log for your reference.
    From your log,
    >>>>
    ** Unable to read file u-boot.img **
    <<<<
After you created SD card, have you checked the files under the boot partition of the SD card?
    Specifically is "u-boot.img" accessible?

    Best,
    -Hong
