DRA821U: how to configure ALE policy to forward multicast packets from specific CPSW9G external port to A72 (Don’t need to send to other R5F’s)?

may I ask your help to answer below more questions?

1. Does TI’s proposal support all kinds of multi-cast packets?
2. Will TI’s proposal be fully implemented in SDK V8.1?
3. For simplified use case requested above, is it enough to configure ALE table entry to support it on VSDK7.3? If yes, how to do the configuration?

currently customer only provided this use case.

forward multicast packets, with fix multicast IP or MAC like below, from specific CPSW9G external ports (one or more) to A72 (Don’t need to send to other R5F’s).

The multicast packets will carry below destination multicast IP and MAC,

So in conclusion, Would you please help answer below questions? 

Question 1: is it feasible to configure ALE table entry to support this use case before TI’s proposal ready? And which kind of ALE table entry can be used? How to fill each field?

Question 2: if not feasible to use ALE, it is possible to use CPSW2G&CPSW9G to support it? I submitted below ticket already.

Question 3: VxWorks work as Linux supplier for gateway project(DRA821), and also other projects (TDA4VM). So for answer of Question1 and 2, is it same between DRA821 and TDA4VM/DRA829?

Question 4: according to release schedule, Will TI’s proposal be fully implemented in SDK V8.1? With SDK V8.1, could all kinds of multi-cast packets be supported?

Yes, this is possible with ALE configuration. I don't have the settings right now, I need to check and get back on this. It will take some time (1 week)

No, it's feasible. The configuration you indicated in that ticket is also possible.

Yes, it's same for DRA821 and DRA829

Dear Vineet.

add  supplement for question1. And here is the refining forwarding rules.

1. Port1 -> A72 and port 5
2. Port5 -> A72 and port 1
3. A72 -> port 1 and port 5
4. Other MAC ports not allowed to received multicast packet from outside.

Customer will have to write his/her own configuration. I can only provide the basic framework for configuring the ALE.
