I checked the thread, but I am afraid it was not concluded clearly. It just says it is up to software used.
Does this mean "user software" or "device driver" ? How about TI SDK Linux?

In general, it means the entire software running in the system, but typically the limitation would be either in ROM (when eMMC boot is used) or the eMMC device driver in the chosen OS. I don't think the relatively new Linux versions have eMMC size limitation.
