TDA4VM: Multiple cameras application: one camera stops streaming, how to prevent whole application from freezing

Hi,

In case of vx_app_multi_cam.out and streaming 4 cameras connected to the same CSI port, if 1 camera gets plugged out, the whole application freezes. How to avoid that: is it possible to let the other 3 cameras continue streaming ?

Hi Victor,

Which SDK release are you using?

There is a feature in the capture node that if one of the camera stops outputting data, it will continue with the fixed frame for that camera without stopping graph. But this features needs to be enabled by providing timeout value and fixed input frames.

I am using SDK 7.02 . Yes I can see function the usage of timeout in vx_capture_target.c . I'll look towards that direction. Thanks.

Is it possible for the application to know which particular camera stops streaming ? I know that the capture node can know it but I wonder if there is any mechanism in place that can communicate it to the application.

Hi Victor,

Yes, there is a control command that you can send to the capture node to get information about this as well as other capture statistics.

You can use the API tivxNodeSendCommand to the capture node with the command TIVX_CAPTURE_GET_STATISTICS. This will return a structure of type tivx_capture_statistics_t which contains the parameter activeChannelMask. This mask will correspond to each sensor (bit 0 corresponds to sensor 0, etc.) and will be set to 1 if currently streaming or 0 if the camera has stopped.

You can reference the test case for how to call this. It is located at tiovx/kernels_j7/hwa/test/test_capture.c
