CCSTUDIO: Cannot find JRE

Hello,

Every day I despise the environment MORE AND MORE.

I try to open a CFG file with whatever that X-KONG GUI editor thing is...

I am getting this error:

However the environment is set. It's RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FACE!!

And the folder is there. Intact. UNALTERED.

And OTHER projects in thsi workspace open this GUI editor without any complaint.

SO I KNOW IT WORKS... I KNOW JAVA IS THERE, I KNOW IT CAN RUN.

But, for NO KNOWN REASON, I DOESN'T WORK ON THIS PROJECT.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS THING???

Sorry for all the pain.

Your issue is likely related to the one mentioned in the below thread:

To spare your all the details in that thread, you can try downloading/installing an XDCtools version that comes with the JRE and either use that XDCtools installation, or you can copy the JRE from that install into the non-JRE version as Sasha mentions in this post:

No.

I was scolded by someone on this forum for attempting to use these tools... i.e. just downloading "the latest".

I am supposed to use the PDK for the ARM 335x (ti-processor-sdk-rtos-am335x-evm-06.03.00.106-Windows-x86-Install.exe) which has an installer and installed xdctools_3_55_02_22_core.

On the other hand, perhaps you can explain why, this morning, I CANNOT get that error message which I included above.

In other words, after it "took a nap" overnight, it is no longer giving me an error.

Very annoying that it is unreliable.

Sorry, I cannot explain the inconsistency. Those are indeed the most maddening for both the user and the people who support and develop the product.

Yeah... I rebooted last night before posting this. I also did a -clean on CCS. It was still occurring.

Today, to follow up, it's not anymore.

Is there something in the CFG file that could fail to parse and give that message?

I didn't see anything wrong, but maybe some unprintable character?

The error doesn't seem to be some issue with the contents of the CFG file itself. I would expect some other error for those types of issue.

It could be an issue with some corrupted data in the CCS cache. But -clean should clear the cache. Maybe cleaning the workspace would have helped then?

But the issue went away on its own. I don't have a good answer for any of this. I wish I did but I'm just as befuddled about this.

I did a clean last night before the reboot.

Infact, I have it on the shortcut all the time. So it was really annoying. Especially that it was only one project that wouldn't open.

Don't have any other stuff at this point. Except what would I grab the next time I see something like this to give you something to examine?

The .metadata/.log file could be helpful at times. You can attach your current .log file for analysis if you wish (though I suspect it may just have a log the same error message that was displayed in the cfg file).

The log is attached. I redacted company info from the directory tree of the projects.

Thanks for the log. Did this happen when you tried opening your cfg file via xgconf?

This happened last night when I exited CCS.

But I notice the log goes back many days. So the CFG file issue would be in there too, from a few days ago.

Unfortunately the log doesn't seem to have much useful data. I don't see anything recent in there. The last few errors seems to be related to the CCS App Center. Before that, it is some indexer hiccups from over a week ago.
