TDA4VM: A72 cannot get pinged if it does not ping first

Dear experts,

Our customer found that

If A72 Linux does not ping external device first, A72 Linux will not get pinged successfully.

Ethernet port: CPSW9G.

SDK version 7.2.

A72 Linux is using a static IP.

How to workaround this issue?

I got a workaround is:

modifing "enableStaticIP = 1" in ndk.cfg

Could you please help to confirm? Is there anything else to change?

Hi,

Yes, it's a known limitation. The issue is that A72 core cannot receive broadcast frames without which there is no entry in the ARP table.

You can try setting an entry in ARP table with arp -s command if you know the MAC address of counterpart.

Hi Vineet,

Is there any command to broadcast A72 ARP to all external devices? So that all external devices can set up their ARP entries.

Will it fix this issue?

Hi,

There is no command as such. ARP response is a directed packet in response to a ARP request (broadcast frame)

You can construct such a packet and send it out using a layer 2 socket application if you know the IP and MAC address of external devices.
