Hello

I am trying to find out which of AM64x device is going to be installed on SK-AM64 Eval board. The BOM xls only listed the U8 as

AM64 SoC_EVM

IC AM64 SoC MICROPROCESSOR BGA441

TEXAS INSTRUMENTS

AM64 SoC_EVM

Secondly, does this SK-AM64 Eval board supports EtherCAT PRU ICSS firmware?

Hi Alan,

The SK-AM64 has the AM6442 device populated.

EtherCAT PRU ICSS firmware is best used on the AM64 GP EVM (https://www.ti.com/tool/TMDS64GPEVM) because it has the PRU RGMII signals brought out to a dual RJ-45, but the SK-AM64 does not.

Thank you for prompt reply. Just out of curiosity, is it possible for me to modify EtherCAT PRU ICSS firmware to make functional on SK-AM64, or it is not recommended at all.

Hi Alan,

No issues running the firmware on the platform, aside from the PRU ICSS RGMII pinmux. The issue is the necessary PRU ICSS signals are not brought out in a way that makes it easy to interface an external PHY or RJ45. The starter kit was not designed with this use case in mind - the additional PHYs and Ethernet connectors add cost and is covered by the AM64 GP EVM.
