AM3352: Using GPMC for multiple FPGA connecting

Part Number: AM3352

Hi,

We used to connect the AM3352 to a single FPGA by using the 16 bit  synchronous non-multiplex mode of GPMC. We used CS0 for this single FPGA. The size is enough by just using a single CS.

Now we need to expand to 3 FPGA, can we use different CS signals to expand the FPGA? CS0 for FPGA1, CS1 for FPGA2, CS2 for FPGA3.

  • Hi,

What you have drawn is the intended use of GPMC. The datasheet specifies the timings assuming 3pF to 30pF of loading on the signals.

Ensure that the 3x FPGAs and any other connections to these pins stays within 30pF. The SYSBOOT loads should also be considered as they are muxed with GPMC address signals.

    Regards,
    Mark
