TDA4VM: MIPI CSI Driver

I'm trying to mimic what arducam does https://www.arducam.com/product/arducam-1mp4-quadrascopic-camera-bundle-kit-for-raspberry-pi-nvidia-jetson-nano-xavier-nx-four-ov9782-global-shutter-color-camera-modules-and-camarray-camera-hat-b0331/

So I have got an FPGA that does combine 4 camera streams and output them into one big frame buffer CSI MIPI. The problem right now is with the platform either Linux or TDA4 from texas instruments which don't support video4linux. I would like to know actually how would one write a driver that separates that big frame into 4 virtual cameras in linux TDA4 ?

Hi Ahmed,

If FPGA can send 4 camera input using 4 virtual channels over MIPI interface, TDA4x CSIRX module can separate them and store them in separate buffer. This is possible.

But driver is currently supported in R5F. Please try using vision apps to capture these images.

How TDA4X does seperate them and store them ? Should I write something for that ? or it does that automatically ?

It can write it using separate DMA channels, we just need to configure it,

Please install PSDKRA from below link, you will find CSIRX driver in ti-processor-sdk-rtos-j721e-evm-07_03_00_07\pdk_jacinto_07_03_00_29\packages\ti\drv\csirx folder.

Can you explain how to configure the virtual channels, the FPGA is ready for 4 Virtual Channels. Please :)

If you are using tiovx, then you could set the virtual channel number of chVcNum variable/array of tivx_capture_params_t structure. Please refer to single camera or multi camera example for this.

If you are using PDK driver, then you could set it in createPrms.chCfg[channel id].vcNum variable. Please refer to packages/ti/drv/csirx/examples/csirx_capture_test/src/csirx_capture_test_main.c example for this.
