J721EXSOMG01EVM: evaluation module, which TDA4VM or DRA829V device is equipped?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRA829V, TDA4VM, J721EXSOMXEVM, DRA829J, DRA829

Dear all,

based on my understanding multiple variants of the TDA4VM and DRA829V Jacinto SoC devices exist. However, I found only one eval board, J721EXSOMG01EVM

J721EXSOMG01EVM

The text just says: Features for the J721EXSOMXEVM

  • TDA4VM/DRA829V (J721 E) processor

Based on what I understand at least five variants of DRA829 and TDA4VM devices exist (DRA829J, DRA829V, TDA4VM88, TDA4VM67, TDA4VM21). All devices differ in their feature set and memory size.

Can anybody let me know which exact device is soldered into to J721EXSOMXEVM?

Thank you and best regards,

Alex

  • Hi Alex,

The EVM User Guide (https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/spruis4b/spruis4b.pdf)  has below snippet in the Introduction Section:

"The Jacinto7 J721E (DRA829/TDA4xM) EVM is a standalone test, development, and evaluation module system that enables developers to write software and develop hardware around Jacinto7 J721E (DRA829/TDA4xM) processor subsystem. The J721E processor is a KeyStoneTm III-based Multicore Arm® System-on-Chip (SoC). It is a super-set processor/device and may be available is different configurations targeted for specific markets. This EVM will support development of the super-set device (J721E) as well as the market specific devices (DRA829/TDA4xM). Many features of the J721E system are available on the EVM, which gives developers the basic resources needed for most general-purpose type."

Which specific device(s) are you looking to test on the EVM, with the TI SDK?

    Thanks,

  • Hi KB,

thanks for your Reply. We intend to test/develop for the TDA4VM21 derivative (automotive).

Does this actually mean that on the EVM there is a "super device" which includes all possible peripherals of the complete Family?

Your Feedback would be very much appreciated.

    Thank You and best regards,

    Alex

  • Yes - the EVM uses device that is super-set device, and should support all features of the DRA829 and TDA4VM devices.
