DRA821U: ESM

Part Number: DRA821U
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRA821

Hello

This is Takemura from Japan.

Now we are now studying the ESM(Error Signaling Module) of DRA821.

Question is below

1. What kinds of errors can ESM detect ?

ESM interrupt map shows that ?

2. In the Interrupt map I can not understand the words. Cold you tell me ?

     1)  GASKET

     2)  RTI

     3)  DCC

 3. In the interrupt map I can see the word "PBIST". I believe PBIST means Programmable Built-In Self-Test ,

     so

        1) What kinds of test does PBIST do?

               memory check, communication check, etc......

        2) We do not have to develop the PBIST software , is that correct ?

   Best Regards

   Yukitoshi Takemura

  • Hi,

    1. What kinds of errors can ESM detect ?

Yes, TRM Section 9.4, Interrupt Sources, has subsections showing the interrupts routed to the ESM module.

    • 9.4.1.3 WKUP ESM0 Interrupt Map
    • 9.4.2.3 MCU ESM0 Interrupt Map
    • 9.4.3.17 Main ESM0 Interrupt Map

    2. In the Interrupt map I can not understand the words. Cold you tell me ?

         1)  GASKET

         2)  RTI

         3)  DCC

RTI - The Real Time Interrupt (RTI) module provides timer functionality for operating systems and for benchmarking code.
The module incorporates several counters, which define the timebases needed for scheduling in the operating
system.  See TRM Section 12.10.2.1 RTI OVerview

Gasket - In order to satisfy safety requirements the Jacinto7 family of devices have in-built mechanisms for isolation and freedom from interference (FFI).   The TI Safety Manual contains more information on this.   In more generic terms a gasket is a seal between components.

DCC - Dual Clock Comparator, for safety diagnostics DCC can be used to detect incorrect frequencies between clock sources.  The TI Safety Manual contains further information on this.

     3. In the interrupt map I can see the word "PBIST". I believe PBIST means Programmable Built-In Self-Test ,

         so

            1) What kinds of test does PBIST do?

                   memory check, communication check, etc......

            2) We do not have to develop the PBIST software , is that correct ?

Yes definition of PBIST is correct.  The TI Safety Manual contains further information on PBIST.

  • Thank you very much for your answer.

I would like to know the interrupt for ESM in detail.

The table which shows the interrupt article is described by many deprecated words ,so I can not understand what it means.

If you have any documents which shows the detail.

    Regards

  • Hi,

The DRA821 ESM source interrupt definitions in TRM in some cases do require updates.  If there are a particular range of ESM interrupts that are of interest please provide a list, and TI will address them, via references in the TRM, or where that is not possible TI can provide feedback.

Regarding terminology used, within the ESM section, as the ESM is aggregating interrupts system wide, a system wide knowledge is required.  This takes time, lets work through each case that is required.
