TDA4VM: How to solve the problem of camera frame loss

I use SDK 7.2, and the test case is app_ multi_ camera.

There are two camera types, imx390 and ar143, but I only use one camera every time, and the image format is YUV uyvy.

On average, one frame of data is lost per second. Here is my debugging information。

  • Should I change this value APP_BUFFER_Q_DEPTH?

  • I changed this value(APP_BUFFER_Q_DEPTH = 8 or APP_BUFFER_Q_DEPTH = 30 ), but it didn't work.

     

  • How many channels are you using? Are you using release build or debug build? 

    I ran multi-cam demo in single channel mode, i did not see frame drops.

  • Which image format do you use, RAW or YUV?

  • on EVM, we support raw format from imx390 sensor.

  • We also have raw format test without frame loss,

    at present, frame loss only occurs in YUV format

  • Yes, we also have a raw format camera without losing frames(30fps).

    When we test YUV format camera, there is a frame loss problem

    i tried running multi-cam example with option 'e', which configures ub960 in yuv test pattern and connects capture to display directly, i do not any frame drop in few seconds run. Looks like something in sensor. Is your sensor configured to output 30fps? ie exactly 1 frame in 33ms?

    Also why is display running slower? In your stats, i see display node is taking more than 33ms to process a frame, this can potentially slow down the graph and then capture node can drop the frames.

  • Looks like you have enabled DRV Debug log, ie CSIRX_DRV_ENABLE_DEBUG macro.

    When it is set to 0, it means the frame was dropped and driver used dummy buffer. For '1', it did use actual buffer. 

    Which essentially means, driver is dropping frames, because it is running out of frames.

    Are you trying to run 720p resolution? Because for 1080p resolution, 74.25MHz clock is less, almost half. Display will not run correctly with this pixel clock.

    Can you test multi-channel YUV format at the same time for a long time to see if there is frame loss?

    EVM does not have support for YUV sensor, so i used ub960 test pattern, but it is only supported for single channel. I dont have way to test multi-channel.

    The stats look fine. Almost all nodes are running under 33.3ms. So it should run without any frame drop. How many buffers are you using between MSC and Display and between capture and LDC?

    I am using four 720p cameras and one 1080p camera,the EDP@60fps pixelClock= 148500000.

    The number of buffers is 8.

    Somehow capture node is somehow taking more time once in a while, because it takes max time 58.33ms. But the next node, LDC, runs in real time, is taking less than 33ms, so LDC always processes and returns the buffer in time. But somehow capture is dropping the frames. 

    Are you seeing any other issue like overflow? or are you running in debug mode? Any other thing running on this core?

    Only the camera was debugged after the device started

     Now the camera capture frame rate is much better than before,

    I will continue to check for problems with other modules.
