AM5729: GPMC as Asynchronous Non-Multiplexed 16-bit width mode 8-bit data read BEN0 and BEN1 issue

Part Number: AM5729

Hi Team,

         Processor - AM5729  OS - RTOS

       > I am configuring AM5729 processor GPMC as Asynchronous Non-Multiplexed 16-bit width mode, 8-bit data reading.

       > when i write lower 8 bit data, i am seeing in signal scope BEN0 low and BEN1  high. when i write higher 8 bit data, i am seeing in signal scope BEN0 high and BEN1 low.  writing is working fine.

        > when i read lower or higher 8 bit data, in signal scope both BEN0 and BEN1 are always low. why BEN0 and BEN1 always low in read case. i am expected same behavior like 8-bit write operation.

Rajeshwar

  • Rajeshwar,

I'm looking into your inquiry.  Can you share screenshots of BEN0/1 toggle during the write & read operation?  Would be beneficial if you also include data and address signal information.  During the 8-bit read case, were you able to observe proper data despite both BEN0 and BEN1 being low?

    Thanks & Regards,

    Shiou Mei

  • Rajeshwar,

I did receive confirmation BE is a don't care during read since the external 16-bit device will always output a 16-bit word.  Since you did not see any issues, please click "This answered my question" if you don't have any additional questions.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Shiou Mei
