Interfacing a DM365 with a CMOS Camera

Hello, everyone. I'm trying to hook up a DM365 with a TCM8230MD (Sparkfun sells them). I'm new to video formats and was wondering if it'd be possible to get video off of a CMOS sensor (such as this one) using only VD and HD sync signals. That is, Table 2-4 of http://focus.ti.com/lit/ug/sprufg8c/sprufg8c.pdf makes reference to a C_FIELD signal which is multiplexed with some other stuff. Is this absolutely necessary? Also, this particular sensor requires an external clock. Can I just use any old programmable clock for this? Thanks in advance.
