AM6548: Inquiry about Bare-metal Environment/SDK

Part Number: AM6548

Our customer is interested in AM6548, we received some inquiries about bare-metal drivers. Customer is asking if it is possible to develop their system with bare metal drivers. In addition, they are asking if there are following bare-metal drivers which TI is releasing.

Bare-metal drivers : PCIe, Hyperbus, Gpio, i2c, timer, uart, spi, sdhc for boot, and pmu (power management unit) drivers.

As far as I checked this, I don’t believe that TI prepare bare-metal (none-OS) environment for TI processors and TI release those  Bare-metal drivers. This means, customer need to create/migrate those drivers by themselves. In my understanding correct?

And then, if there are 3rd party company which supports this work, would you share this information, please?

It will be appreciated if experts will share your advice/comments on this.

Best regards,

Miyazaki

  • Hi Miyazaki-san,

I would like to refer you to the Build sheet for AM65xx. This sheet is a summary of what is supported in the SDK configuration and is a depiction of the most widely adopted software configuration.

The primary support for None-OS or No OS components in the SDK are Bootloader and diagnostic applications. The typical drivers are all built for RTOS build environments. I would like to suggest the customer to evaluate the existing options instead of developing the No OS versions of this. Going the "No OS" route for AM65 type of SoC can be very challenging and should be avoided.

Regarding the options for 3rd party companies, we work with a lot of partners who may be able to assist and provide services. I would request you to discuss this internally, I cannot share this on the e2e forum.

    Regards

    Karthik
