AM5729: Macroblock skip threshold options on the IVA-HD

Part Number: AM5729

Hi,

Is it possible to change the threshold when a macroblock skip is used?

Our goal is to reach a target bitrate without dropping frames by utilising macroblock skipping, similar to how the software-based x264 encoder maintains bitrate after reaching max quantization.

In the "H264_Encoder_HDVICP2_UserGuide" it says there's support for skip mode macroblocks.

What value for "IH264ENC_BiasFactor" would be best to get the desired result?

Or would some sort of source code need to be changed?

IH264ENC_BiasFactor seems to be located in ipumm, I don't know if higher values could be used.

Best Regards

  • Hi,

It is not possible to change the threshold when macro-block skip is used.

The supported values for  IH264ENC_BiasFactor are as below:

    • IH264_BIASFACTOR_DEFAULT (1)
    • IH264_BIASFACTOR_LOW (0)
    • IH264_BIASFACTOR_MILD (4)
    • IH264_BIASFACTOR_ADAPTIVE (5)

Please use the settings as per you requirement.
