TMS320C6457: Last CCStudio environment suitable for TMS320C6457

Hello,

I have a new project to develop which is based on an old DSP: the tms320c6457.

In the past I had projects based on CCS 3.3 environment and DSP BIOS 5.33.06 for the same DSP. But now I would like to upgrade to a more recent CCS that runs under windows 10.

Could you please suggest the last CCS version which support that DSP?

Hi,

We don't support this device anymore, but the latest CCS, 10.4, should still support C6000 DSP. I loop in CCS experts for further comments.

As Jianzhong mentioned, CCS 10.4 supports C6457. Note that the version of C6000 compiler that ships with CCS 10.4 (v8.x) does not support C64x. But you can install v7.x version of the compiler and use it with CCS 10.4.

Note that support for DSP/BIOS has been greatly deprecated in more recent CCS versions. DSP/BIOS does not come with CCS anymore (you can download and install it standalone) and CCS 6.x and greater does NOT support the DSP/BIOS RTA tools. Note that only DSP/BIOS 5.4x is support by CCS Eclipse based versions.

Also note that CCS 10.4 does not support any XDS510 based debug probes. The last version of CCS to support XDS510 is CCS 8.3.1.

so if would like to port my old project in a more fresh environment what would you suggest? Install CCS 10.4 then install a v7.x C6000 compiler and install DSP/BIOS 5.4x then try to import the legacy project?

We always encourage using the latest version, though some people have stuck with CCS 5.5 because they wanted BIOS RTA support. But that version of CCS is not supported anymore.
