CCSTUDIO: CCS installation Windows 10 fails, no rights in AppData

Hello,

Installation of CCS in Windows 10 fails because it wants to run an executable from the AppData folder. My company's IT policy doesn't allow running from AppData. In the past I have asked for a temporary permission, but I want to avoid that for future installations for my team members.

Is there any way to install CCS without using the AppData folder? I tried running from the command line with the --temp option but that didn't work.

Hello Arjan,

I checked with out installer expert and her reponse was:

The installer is complaining that it cannot run the ds installer from the temporary location where it’s been extracted.
The CCS installer extracts all the components into a temporary folder using the TEMP value on windows. In this case, the %TEMP% value must be set to the appData/local/temp folder, which you are unable to write to/run exes from.
The CCS installer allows the user to set the TEMP folder to another path on the command line (--temp c:\temp), but you may run into a problem with eclipse trying to write there too, so I would suggest that you set the TEMP variable in you environment to a folder you can write/execute from, e.g. c:\temp.

Hello Ki,

Thanks for your reply. I changed the TEMP variable but unfortunately installation still fails. So maybe it's more than just my permission to run an exe, probably the antivirus (which I also have no control over...).

I will contact my IT department and see what they can do. This issue can be closed for now.
