AM6442: FreeRTOS socket API for ICSS

I would need to send RAW ethernet frames and also IP packets with a library based on socket API.

I found examples with LwIP and ICSS-EMAC based on "socket-examples", but such examples are based on LwIp socket interface.

So I am wondering if it is recommended to use directly LwIP socket interface and if such interface is integrated with ICSS FW (PRUs)

Hi Andrea,

Yes, it is recommended to use LWIP socket interface because FreeRTOS socket API support will be only via LWIP.

We have another example which is based on LWIP and ENET LLD Icssg emac example and it is available in public release "mcu_plus_sdk_am64x_08_00_00_21\examples\networking\lwip\enet_lwip_icssg" please refer to this example.

Hi Mohanreddy,

I found that Lwip supports sending RAW IP packets but not RAW ethernet frames with socket interface.

I would need sockets able to send ethernet frames with sockaddr_ll such as in Linux.

How to do it ?

Hi Andrea,

LWIP supports Raw socket interface to send Raw ethernet frames.

For this you need to use SOCK_RAW as type.

Did you tried this already? if not try using SOCK_RAW as type and check.

How about binding my raw socket with the proper netif ?

Should I use lwip_bind ?

I see also that lwip_send or lwip_sendto are supposed to have an IP address as destination.

I think a would need an example.
