DRA821U: Does DRA821u and SDK8.0 support PCIe Hot Plug?

Hi TI

There's an issue that Customer faces about PCIe Interface of Modem.

Can you please check if SDK8.0 of DRA821U (J7200) is able to support PCIe Hot Plug Feature?

They reported the device is able to work normaly only when the device was inserted before boioting.

If they tried the hot plugging, Nothing happens when the device is inserted into PCIe connector.

Please let us know it the prerequiste is required for PCIe Hot plugging Test,

They did set the flag of CONFIG_HOTPLUG_PCI_PCIE=y in Kernel config.

Could you please also let us know how to test manual enumeration (e.g. modprobe cmd) when a PCIe device is attached to Socket if the feature is not provided by TI by default.

Their knowledge is not enough strong to debug this PCIe integration framework without supplier help. Please provide us with the guidacne for trouble shooting of PCIe H/W and S/W perspective by themselves.

I found AM5728 does not support Hot Plug feature as below link.

Pleae also make clarification for Jacinto DRA821U device.

And try to give us your thought if you able to provide the work around for PCIe Hot Plug enalbing when the feature is not supported by DRA821U.

DRA821U TRM says the PCIe Hot Plug feature is not supported by SoC.

Could you please suggest a workaround if customer has to enable Hot Plug feature?

Jack,

The driver does not support hot plug.

Can you try to rescan the PCIe bus:

echo 1 > /sys/bus/pci/devices/0001:00:00.0/remove
echo 1 > /sys/bus/pci/rescan

when the modem is plugged in?
