AM4372: Whether to stop PCLK when CAM_D [15: 0] is not used

Guru 12165 points
Part Number: AM4372

Hi,

It is assumed that the camera data will be signal processed by an external device and input to the AM437x.

Looking at the TRM, it looks like his external PCLK input signal is only used to latch the CAM_D signal.

Is it okay to stop this PCLK if I don't use CAM_D ?

Thanks,

KT

  • Hi KT,

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding your question, but how do you intend to input the data to the processor via the VFPE interface if you are not using the Image data lines?

Normally, I'd say the answer you're looking for can be found on Table 14-5 on Page 2156 which lists signals required for different input modes, but please let me know.

    Best Regards,

    Andrei

  • Hi, Andrei

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding your question, but how do you intend to input the data to the processor via the VFPE interface if you are not using the Image data lines?

I apologize for the misleading description.

Is it okay to stop PCLK if CAM_D is not transferring data? (If CAM_D is transferring data, of course PCLK will work.)

If my understanding of how to use PCLK is wrong, please point it out.

    Thanks,

    Koki

  • Hi Koki,

Thank you for clarifying. Yes, I believe your understanding is correct, PCLK only needs to be active while transferring data.

    Best Regards,

    Andrei
