TDA4VM: Mixing different cameras

Hello,

I am looking into if it's possible to run two different sensors on the same TDA4VM chip. For example, having one AR0820 camera and one IMX390 camera running simultaneously.

I recall during a phone call or email the feature might be supported in 8.0.0 release, but looking at the multi_cam_demo documentation it seems not.

Hi,

You could capture, but not yet supported in the ISP. AR820 and IMX390 require different ISP settings, which needs to be changed almost every frame, this is not yet supported.

It mentions:

Sensor framework supports heterogeneous camera support

VISS node supports heterogeneous camera support

So the sensor framework excludes the ISP? The heterogeneous camera support is only for YUV output cameras?

Is there a plan to support mixed sensors in ISP?

Hi Huan,

Yes, sensor framework is for the external sensors, not the ISP.

Let me check about VISS node and demo usecase.

Hello Gordon,

This can be tested using two existing usecases - app_single_cam and app_multi_cam. There is a limitation that only one of the apps can control display, therefore it is recommended to disable display in app_multi_cam.cfg.
