Which version of Codec Engine?

The c6a816x/AM389x EVM board included EZSDK with Codec Engine version 3.21.00.02.  Looking at the Codec Engine download page:

http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_sb/targetcontent/ce/index.html

It says that users of SYS/BIOS 6  should use version 3, but linux is not suported.  My purpose of using Codec Engine is to interface remote alogirihms running on the C674 DSP using SYS/BIOS 6 to an ARM Cortex A8 running linux.  Does this mean that I need to use Codec Engine version 2?

  • You should use the version of CE included in the EZSDK.  CE 3.21.* is not yet GA (Generally Available - implying production quality), that's why you won't find it on that download site.  The EZSDK includes pre-releases.

A 3.21 GA release will be available within a few months, but typically it's best to stick with whatever version has been system validated with your SDK release.

  • I was just reading your Codec Engine Blog.

Ok, I will keep on attempting to use Codec Engine 3.21.  The reason I asked the question was I have been unable to get Codec Engine 3.21 to install in CCS5.02.  I have it checked in the RTSC Preferences, but it does not show up as actually installed and I do not get the menu additions for the wizard.  I have to use CCS5 as CCS4 will not work with the c6a816x EVM.
