1) Are they facing the same issue with TI EVM as well?

2) Are they facing the same issue with all the custom boards or just a few of them?

I heard this issue occurred on one board. I mean, customer is not facing this issue with TI-EVM. Customer has this issue with a trial production using their production-line, therefore, customer has to explain to production-team the reason why this issue occurred. From above their analysis, customer is hoping TI will share expert’s advice on what is root cause.

Should customer check this SD card with TI-EVM, first of all?

I really appreciate if you will share further expert’s advice/comments on this.

Hi Parth,

I received customer’s feedback. Customer confirmed SD card that caused the problem with their prototype-board and tried to verify this SD card with TI-EVM. As the result, customer was able to confirm TI-EVM started boot-up without any problem.

And then, customer also confirmed the SD card that could be booted with another prototype-board and tried to evaluate SD card with this prototype-board (Issue board), however, this issue-board was not able to do bootup. This means, it seems SD card has no issue.

Should I request customer to check SDIO signals(waveform) of SD card?

Can I have your further advice/comments on this  issue, please?

Please ask them to check SDIO signals and share the observations.
Also, can you please ask them to run some other example with SD card like MMCSD diagnostic test or MMCSD driver example on the non working board. Basically, we want to isolate if the issue is with the SD interface on non working board or if there is some issue with the boot process.

I'll share your comments with customer soon. but, please allow me to ask it a little bit. 

I'm not sure if it is possible to run  something like MMCSD diagnostic test on the non working board because this system is not bootup. Is it possible? Also, if you will share helpful URL for this test, it will be really appreciated.

Hi Miyazaki,

They can use No-boot mode and run through CCS or they can use QSPI boot as well to run the example. You can find the diagnostic test at <pdkInstallPath>\packages\ti\board\diag\mmcsd. Also, you can find the procedures to build and run the test at https://software-dl.ti.com/processor-sdk-rtos/esd/AM57X/06_03_02_08/exports/docs/rtos/index_board.html#building-the-examples.

I agree with Parth suggestion regarding running diagnostic test for SD interface.  Since other customer proto type boards are working, it could be just a manufacturing issue on this one board.  Double check that all power supplies are correct, all clocks are correct, and then use CCS/diagnostics to determine if failure is specific to SD interface, or maybe something else that is impacting processor boot (like bootmode latching, which may already been validated).

I received customer’s feedback.

Regarding SDIO singles/waveform, customer tried to confirm them, however, customer mentioned there was no particular difference between the problematic board and the non-problem board. In addition, customer double-checked the power supply and clocks are also connected correctly. They mean, it seemed there is no pattern-breakage on the non-working board.

And then, it seems there is not any words on the console-terminal. Regarding QSPI boot, they changed boot-mode to QSPI, customer mentioned the command prompt does not appear. Is there possibility u-boot was broken?

Can I have further advice/comments, please?

If I should request customer to try No-boot mode with CCS, could you elaborate this procedure, please? I tried to look for this information, I was not able to reach it .. sorry.

I received customer’s feedback.

Customer tried No-boot mode with CCS. For the non-working board, it seems Test Connection stops halfway. I attached this failure log ( Test_Connection_Failure_logwith non-work-board.zip ). For the working board, customer confirmed that "The JTAG DR Integrity scan-test has succeeded" message was displayed and the process ended normally.

Customer mentioned there is no difference in design because the non-working board has same lot-number as the working board. Also, customer checked the component mounting status/condition, but there is no missing components. And then, customer executed X-ray analysis on AM5716 and the surrounding memory, however there is not any solder-defects. Once again, customer checked power-supply rails, there was not any problem.

Would you think this AM5716 was broken?

Hi Miyazaki,

Looking at the logs it looks like that the JTAG connectivity to SOC or some internal connectivity in the board is broken.
Can you ask them to try and load some example and share the error logs they are getting?

Please allow me to confirm your request. Customer has the failure of “target configuration” with non-working-board currently, and customer mentioned they could not see multiple destination on test connection phase. Although I tried to check this user’s guide, I was not able to understand your request... Could you evaluate it in more detail, please?

From the logs shared in the previous post I can see that for some reason Test Connection hangs, but does not show any failure.
See the image for sample logs when connectivity is broken.

As it is not showing any failure, we can't conclude on the issue. To investigate further, we want to see if they are able to connect to a15_0 core and run any example.
Follow the following steps:
1) Launch the target configuration.
2) Connect to a15_0 core.
3) Load mmcsd diagnostic test and run

You can refer to the screen recording shared in the thread e2e.ti.com/.../tmdxidk5718-connect-to-dsp-via-jtag-on-the-sitara-processor-on-tmdxidk5718
for the procedure to connect and run example on CCS.

If they see failure in any of the above steps, please ask the to share the failure logs.

Also, please let me know if you need any further clarification.
