What is AM1806's CLKOUT?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM1806

AM1806 can send the clock as same as OSCOUT(crystal oscillator output) on CLKOUT.

Which is the correct route the clock move from OSCOUT to CLKOUT, the clock  just passed through inside or via buffer circuit?

  • H.ro,

I think either solution should word fine as long as you verify that the load you are trying to drive with the CLKOUT pin does not exceed the pin electrical limitations.

If the load is greater than what the pin can electrically supply, you would need to use a clock buffer circuit.

  • H.ro,

I have notified our expert of this post to look into this. He should respond shortly.

  • Thank you for quick responding.

    Excuse you misunderstanding my quetion.

I mean AN1806 has buffer circuit among CLKOUT output and OSCOUT in AM1806 or not.

Of course I'd like to know electrically supply of the pin.

Looking forward to expecting experts answer.

Thank you for your kind of notifying.

  • The CLKOUT pin does have an output buffer driving the pin after the Mux as well as the clock divider.

  • Thank you for answering my question!

    I've understood below

     __________AM1806_________
     |                                                          |
    CLKOUT - Buffer - MUX - OSCOUT - Crystal
     |                                                     |    |         |
     |                                               OSCIN-------
