OMAP3530 USB Certification?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP3530, TUSB1210

Is the USB HW on the OMAP3530 certified?

Thanks, Rob

  • USB certification is normally a system level compliance test which includes many things beyond the OMAP3530 silicon.  However, the USBIF integrators list has several categories for approved silicon.  This level of certification can not be extended to a customer’s product, because it only verifies the silicon complied with the USBIF requirements when combined with the specific hardware and software used for the test.  There are many system level things in a OMAP3530 based product that may cause the system to not be compliant.  So the USBIF requires the final product to be certified if the customer wants to use the official USB logo on their product and product packaging.  The biggest value of having silicon listed on the USBIF integrators list is to demonstrate the device does not have any limitations that prevent a system developer from getting their product certified.

The OMAP3530 does not include the high speed ULPI PHY which is one of the most critical components in the system that may affect performance.  It must be combined with an external high speed ULPI PHY before being tested.  Therefore, it would not be possible to have the OMAP3530 listed without a combined PHY.

The OMAP3 plus TUSB1210 was added to the High Speed OTG silicon list on 2/7/2011 (Test ID Number 100000037).
