Migrating from 1bit ECC to 4bit ECC with the DM6437

2 Questions please.

I have a customer that is using the DM6437 with Numonyx 1bit ECC NAND flash.  The customer has the TI NAND Writer code that supports the Numonyx 1bit ECC flash, but since that part is EOL'd they'd like to know...

1.  Is there a version of the "NAND Writer" that supports the new Micron equivalent NAND Flash with built in 4bit ECC (for example:  the RESET command is now required on the 4bit and was not on the 1bit) ?

Old EOL'd Numonyx PN:  NAND01GW3B2BZA6

New equivalent Micron PN:  MT29F1G08ABADAH4:D

Micron is saying this:

I did confirm that the new parts have built in 4 bit ECC so if you turn off the DM6437s ECC they should work fine provided that the other software changes on the tech note are implemented.

2.  Does dropping in the new 4bit ECC NAND flash and disabling the DM6437s ECC with some minor SW changes...sound accurate for all that is needed to migrate from the EOL'd 1bit ECC to the new 4bit ECC NAND flash?
