I’m currently doing some benchmark testing on AM3517 SOM from LogicPD because we noticed some speed issues. For now we are testing how long it takes to run 1000 NOPs (or MOV R0,R0) instructions, with the test code both running from DDRAM and SRAM.

Does anybody know how long it should take to run this test (1000 NOPs or MOV R0,R0) with the processor running at 500MHz?

Did you take a look at this post.. He seems to be doing a similar exercise. You may have to tweak the MMU setting, compiler option etc..

The other post was very helpful. Using instruction cache, data cache and MMU greatly improved the processing speed.

Just as a side note, I had to disable cacheing for the memory segments used in dma transfers.
