OMAP35x video capture and output using DSS

Hi,

I am looking to capture video from an analogue camera using an ADV7180 decoder chip. Sadly, I am not sure where to start.

Are there any wiki links or help that TI provides to capture video using a camera device and output to a TV display using the DSS? Also, it is possible for me to use the V4L2 Drivers with the DSS instead or the FBDev driver? I am assuming that this is the correct method of using video input and output with the DSS.

Any help would be appreciated.

There are a few SD capture solutions which are based on TI's video decoder (TVP4146/TVP5147) which can very easily be swapped to the TVP5150AM1 or TVP5151 if cost is your primary concern.

If you refer to the data sheet you will find that ITU656 capture is possible. This is the mode you should use, and only requires 9 signals from the video decoder to OMAP (8 data + clock).

V4L2 can be used, yes.

You can refer to the PSP User Guide for further details on both Video Display and Capture, where it does talk in detail about TV out, Capture support, V4L2 driver, Fbdev, etc...
