AMIC110: Ethernet/IP with AMIC110 or TMS320F28388D possible

Part Number: AMIC110
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28388D

Dear all,

I'm not sure, if this post is on the right place. I looked for other TI solutions for Ethernet/IP. I found that with the SITARA AMIC110 there are solutions with EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP and Profinet. But this CPU don't have a C2000 MCU, which I need for my application.

My questions :

1. I'm not sure, how many CPU power I need for the Ethernet/IP. Thinking to use the Ethernet/IP stack from SITARA AMIC110  and implement it to my TMS320F28388D CPU. Possible ?

2. When I use the AMIC110 and connect it to another C2000 MCU, do I need the DDR3 RAM on the AMIC110 ?

Best regards

Martin

  • Hello Martin,

    I am from the Sitara Processor team. My team will start by addressing questions you have around the AMIC110 or other processors in the same family. We can pass your thread over to the C2000 team if you need to ask them questions.

    The networking protocols that are supported on our processors are expected to run on the processors themselves.

    So instead of communication looking like this:
    Ethernet packet --> Ethernet port --> AMIC110 --> send Ethernet packet to C2000 --> Ethernet/IP stack runs on C2000

    Your system would look like this:
    Ethernet packet --> Ethernet port --> AMIC110 --> Ethernet/IP stack runs on AMIC110 --> AMIC110 can communicate with C2000 as needed

    Regards,

    Nick
