AM6412: External RTC and Linux driver

Part Number: AM6412
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ32002

Hi,

since the AM64xx does not have an integrated RTC module, we are looking at the TI external RTC https://www.ti.com/product/BQ32002

Wanted to check if there is any AM64xx reference HW that is using an external RTC and has a Linux driver with that. Can someone comment?

Thanks!

  • I'm not aware of anyone that has used this devices with AM64x. I will ask if anyone else has ran across an example of it being used with AM64x.

It appears the BQ32002 device expects its VCC and external pull-up resistors to be powered from the same IO power supply that is sourcing the respective AM64x IOs. Such that IOs of both devices will power-up and power-down at the same time. If so, this is good as many of the AM64x IO are not fail-safe.

I will reassign this thread to the Linux team for your question related to Linux support of the BQ32002 device.

    Regards,
    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

    thanks for the feedback.

We also found a Linux driver on https://www.ti.com/tool/BQ32KSW-LINUX and in mainline.
