TDA4VM: Displays subsystem DP output issues

Part Number: TDA4VM

Hi team,

Here's 2 questions may need your help:

1. The multi-monitor support feature of DP is mentioned in the manual on tda4vm, the customer would like to know figure out the meaning of this MST feature.

The customer intends to enter 1920 * 720 and 800 * 480 resolution data through two pipeline in TDA4, and finally, through one DP interface connecting two screens, one screen DIM (1920x720 resolution), one screen HUD (800 * 480 resolution) . Is it possible to achieve with the MST of DP?

2. Is the output of the DP of the TDA4 supporting only RGB101010 and RGB121212? The normal display should be RGB888, is there any requirement for an external monitor?

Could you help resolve this case? Thanks.

Best Regards,

Cherry

  • Hi Cherry,

MST feature is not supported yet in SDK.

RGB888 format is supported in eDP.

  • Hello Brijesh,

    Thanks for your support!

If MST is not available now, they now consider to connect 2 screens externally: one uses DP and the other uses DSI on the other. Is this way possible?

Since ap_cfg_mcu2_0.h has comments in the example code in vision_app, you need to turn off dsi and hdmi when using edp single screen, if using dual screen, Can only be edp+hdmi. Is this an EVM development board only? Or can the TDA4VM only support some of these interfaces at the same time?

    Thanks and Best Regards,

    Cherry

  • Hi Cherry,

Yes, TDA4xVM can output eDP and DSI simultaneously. Even EVM can output them, but it is just currently demo limitation. You could change demo to use dual output on eDP and DSI interface..
