AM1810 Profibus

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM1810, PROFIBUS

Hello,

I got following question about the AM1810:

Is it possible to design two Profibus-interfaces on this chip (intended for redundancy) ?

According the information page, I got following specifications:

"Three Configurable 16550 type UART Modules (Including one (UART1 or UART2) designated for PROFIBUS interface.)"

As far as I know has the AM1810 two PRU-Subsystems. So is it possible to use both UART's for Profibus?

Best regards, Philip

  • Hi Philip,

Just some clarification: The AM1810 has only one PRU subsystem, in which one PRU subsystem consists of two PRUs.

The PROFIBUS Slave interface on AM1810 uses both PRUs to run the Layer 2 PROFIBUS protocol. You can choose to use either UART1 or UART2 for the PROFIBUS slave interface (configurable in SW). Hence is is not possible to run at the same time two PROFIBUS Slave interfaces if this is what you are looking for.

    Best regards,

     Thomas
