Can DM6467 work with GigE Vision Camera

Hi

I want to connect GigE Vision Camera  to DM6467 through  via a ethernet Phy,  OS embeded in Dm6467 is MVL 4.0.1, and the kernel is 2.6.10,  and I am not sure whether DM6467 can receive the video stream?  Software  under Linux Os  on PC can be use to acquire image through Gigabit Ethernet, if there is no problem that DM6467 can be connected to DM6467, can SDK  under Linux Os  on PC  be used?

thank you very much!

Manju] As I understand this is an Ethernet based camera. If it is, DM6467 does not have to depend on the VPIF interface to interface to camera, and yes, DM6467 can recieve the video stream on ethernet.

if there is no problem that DM6467 can be connected to DM6467,

[Manju] Not sure what you mean here but if the intention is to connect one DM6467 to another, you can do it.

can SDK  under Linux Os  on PC  be used?

[Manju] Again not able to understand theuse case

Would you please explain the use case in a little detail so that I can understand and help you appropriately? May be you want to draw a small connection diagram of your system components?

  • Hi

I am very sorry for my poor english and carelessness! well , I want to ask if there is no problem that DM6467 can be connected to GigE Vision Camera , can Software Develop kits(SDK) of the GigE Vision Camera  on computer be used on DM6467? that is to say, The camera company has developed an software on computer to acquire images via a ethernet Phy, and also given customers some Software Develop kits(also called SDK). and I am not sure if SDK can be used on DM6467.  and an embeded linux operating system (MVL 4.0.1) has been transplanted into DM6467!

I am not sure if I have explained the problem! Look foward to your reply!

    thanks

  • Hello Dingguo,

I want to point you to a post I had earlier this year about GigE data rates.  We did not have the same camera as you but we found that we could not stream data at more than 150mbs.  We were trying to just stream data at 500mps, you can see from the post.  It seems that the 6467 can only do this if there is no operating system running.

Have you considered that the GigE driver (in the MVL4.0.1) might not be able to keep up with the GigE Vision Camera?  Since it took my team sometime to sort this out, I wanted to give you a "heads up" as we say before you spend a lot of time and money.
