AM3358: Linux reboot failing

I have an AM3358 design that boots properly at power up or with a reset button on the TPS65217, but locks up when the Linux 'reboot' command is used.

I thought this might be issues with corrupt SYSBOOT levels due to some dual boot logic, but spruh73q.pdf (AM3358x Tech) indicates the boot pins are not re-latched during SW_Cold_Reset nor SW_Warm_Reset.

Do you have any insight on how to debug this reset issue? Maybe via the JTAG port?

On a side note, in spruh73q.pdf Table 8-26 is not referenced, but adds EMU and Security Violation columns to Table 8-25.

Another clue - Linux reboot doesn't work, but "U-boot reset' does reboot properly. What does that mean? Sorry for my late response. Do you still need assistance on this issue?

If so, what is the kernel version do you use? Does the board reboot if using command 'devmem2 0x44e00f00 w 1' instead of the 'reboot' command?

Yes, this is still an open issue. We are using the V5.4 Kernel. More tomorrow.

We're running Debian and devmem2 is not supported (see bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=595805). Can you suggest another command to access the PRM_RSTCTRL register?

John,

You can cross-compile it, the processor is very straight forward, "<cross-compile>-gcc devmem2.c -o devmem2. You can find devmem2.c on internet.

Or you can extract the devmem2 binary from Processor SDK rootfs and copy it over to your Debian rootfs.

I still haven't had any luck compiling this. Jumping ahead, what are the next steps if I answer 'yes' or 'no'?

If "yes", means triggering warm-reset can reboot the board, you don't have hardware design issue on your board. We just need to debug why reboot command doesn't trigger warm-reset.

If "No", you likely have board design issue, which causes warm-reset doesn't reboot the board.
