RS232 communication not working with PC and EVM5505

Hi all,

We were trying to communicate with PC and EVM5505 using RS232. The code used is the uart_external_loopbak_polling.pjt that comes with the demo code for the EVM.

We couldn't read the values send from the EVM on PC using hyperterminal.

The loopback test is success when the tx and rx pins are shorted.

Please give your valuable suggestions/coments

How do you obtain this test? Which demo code are you referring to?

Hi,

Please download CSL2.1 from http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/sprc133.html.

You can use UART example.

Hi,

We identified the problem.

It was with the RS232 cable supplied with the board.The receive and transmit were connected to receive and transmit of the other side instead of reversing it.

Any way we suspected everything from 5515 board design to parity settings to PC port.
