Experiments on ARM 9 and DSP Board

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP-L138

Hi Team,

The following are the list of experiments based on ARM9, DSP , I2C AND USB. Try to assist Us to perform the M.tech - EMBEDDED SYSYTEMS LAB.

Experiments on ARM 9 and DSP Board
1.    Basic data streaming concepts in DSP/BIOS™ LINK.

2.    Basic message transferring concepts in DSP/BIOS™ LINK.

3.    A combination of data streaming and messaging concepts in DSP/BIOS™

4.    large buffer transfer through direct writes to and reads from DSP memory.

Experiments on I2C Development Board
1.    Simulate an I2C master or slave device.

2.    Program and verify I2C-based memory devices.

3.    Passively monitor an I2C bus in real-time with bit-level timing down to 20 ns.

Experiments on USB Analyzer
1.    Real-time capture and delayed-download capture

2.    High-Speed USB Chirp Detection

3.    Automatic Speed Detection

4.    Hardware-based packet suppression

5.    Digital I/O for synchronizing

  • Please describe which TI part you are using.

Also - for the above three sets of Qs, please submit three separate forum posts, in order for the individual experts to better assist you.

  • Hi sir, for the above said experiments which TI part will be suitable and cost affordable

  • Hi Sir,

Which development tool will be preferable for the above said experiments.i have chosen OMAP-L138 Experimenter Kit.But it is not in stock at TI as well as at authorized distributors of TI. kindly suggest some other kit

  • Hi,

Many of our devices support the ARM processor and peripherals you mentioned.

From "ti.com" on the left hand side, under <processors> select "Digital Signal Processors (DSP)". When you click on this link it will open up a new page and within that page on the left hand side you will see a Table <Select by Device Family>. Most of these devices listed have the devices that support your need. As an example you can choose DM644x (DM6446 - 594MHz) or DM646x (DM6467 - 594MHz) devices. Spectrum Digital develops and sales the kit. since Spectrum Digital (www.spectrumdigital.com) develops many of our Evaluation Modules, you can ask for their recommendation if needed.

    Best regards, Zegeye

  • Hi,

One more info I did not address on your question.

DSP BIOS is an O/S that runs on a DSP not on ARM processor. You mentioned the need of using an ARM9 and a DSP BIOS. This is not supported.

However, since most of the devices support both processors, you can use DSP BIOS on the c64x DSP.

    Best regards, Zegeye
