TMDX654IDKEVM: Network boot do not apply overlays

Hello,

I found difference for running system from sdcard and run from network. Scripts in SDK for network boot generate configuration with incorrect names for overlay files. Network boot use tftp and nfs.

PROCESSOR-SDK-LINUX-RT-AM65X 08.01.00.03

Script generate

get_overlay_net 'fdt address ${fdtaddr};fdt resize 0x100000;for overlay in ${overlay_files};do;tftp ${overlayaddr} ${overlay};fdt apply ${overlayaddr}; done'

Correct should be

get_overlay_net 'fdt address ${fdtaddr};fdt resize 0x100000;for overlay in ${name_overlays};do;tftp ${dtboaddr} ${overlay};fdt apply ${dtboaddr}; done'

With this correction the system apply necessary overlays. Can you confirm this is correct and are all the necessary corrections?

Hi Lucas,

Yes, your modification looks correct.

I have just double-checked our U-Boot source code, and I didn't find any references to get_overlay_net variable. Is this a variable you defined in your uEnv.txt file or environment.

Please always reset the env variables whenever you change your U-Boot.

=> env default -a -f

=> env save

Hi Anna,

$SDK/setup.sh is configutarion script which also prepare and generate configuration for U-Boot and network boot.

$SDK/bin/setup-uboot-env.sh is scirpt containing incorrect parameters.

Mentioned network boot configuration with get_overlay_net variable is generated by these scripts. So, you have right, it realy is not a in default configuration. Minimaly the mentioned ons is incorrect in SDK.

Is running the system with the same functionality when we run sdk image from SDcard and from netboot?(if we omit nfs and other related.)

Please check rest of generated parameters.

Hello Nick,

yes, it is. The script in PROCESSOR-SDK-LINUX-RT-AM65X 08.02.00.01 still contains incorrect parameters.

Hi Lukas,

the fix we discussed has since gotten merged into our codebase and is part of the AM65x SDK v8.6 release that just happened, please see here: https://www.ti.com/tool/PROCESSOR-SDK-AM65X

If you install the SDK and look at the setup-uboot-env.sh script it now contains a reference to name_overlays:
