AM5728: EMIF Tool's PCB Trace Lenght

Hello TI Support Team,

I have a question about the Excel EMIF Tool (sprac36e):

We are loading AM572x_EVM configuration with "Load User Config" button in Title-README page and we see that CLK and DQSn trace lengths in Step2-BoardDetails page different than AM582x_EVM (TMDSEVM572X) design's layout lCLK and DQSn trace lengths.

* Although there are both Microstrip and Stripline trace paths in AM582x_EVM (TMDSEVM572X) sample design, EMIF tool has only Microstrip value. Why?

* When we combine Microstrip and Stripline trace lengths and include or do not include the via length, we cannot reach the 1475 mils measure entered ready-made via the tool. How did you calculate the 1475mils value?

* Is the via length taken into account when calculating the trace length? If yes, would you recommend adding it to Microstrip or Stripline length?

    Hi,

    The via length is most likely minimal compared to the full trace length between the processor and DRAM. As hardware training should be used, the trace length values entered into the tool will be used to generate seed values to the training algorithm, and some variance in input is OK. (final delays will be based on training) As such, I wouldn't expect a difference in behavior if the via length were omitted from the tool input, or added to either microstrip / stripline cells.

    Thank you for answer.

    Our custom PCB based on AM5728 EVM board and we keept all DDR, eMMMc and SD_card layouts.

    We are using AM5726 and 4 x Micron DDR3L RAM > MT41K256M16TW-107:P.

    And using attached file EMIF config file.EMIF_RegisterConfig 1066Mhz 16bit.xlsm

    But getting " HW leveling timeout on EMIF1" and " HW leveling timeout on EMIF2" timeout after Uboot spl start.

    Could you guide us if have problem on EMIF config file or any other solution for proper boot?
