Raw Ethernet, After two Weeks, NO HELP

Problem:   Customer posts a question, how do use any API to do raw ethernet i/o.  More than two weeks have elapsed.   There is still no path offered with enough information to do anything useful.

Background:  The raw i/o interface does not work as presented in the NDK documentation.  After starting the network and setting up the sockets as instructed, no packets are received.  Possibly one problem is that the interface needs to be set for promiscous.  another complication is that the NIMU filters on  ether type. There is a low level call that might set up promiscous mode, but there is no documentation how to use that in an app that is based on the NDK demos, and there is no documention or example of how to setup a network program at any lower level API.

Conclusion: The network software and device drivers are not adequately documented to be used for anything other than  the cute web servers included as demos.  In my opinion, nowadays a sane person would use a low end pc type processor for that.  The important function of a DSP is signal processing and the companion taks of how to get the data in and out.  In this, the NDK and its support, are a miserable failure.  Its a pity since the c6748 would otherwise be a useful part.  We are losing a lot money over this and hopefully we can find a way to save the business.  Customer be ware.
