Kindly Suggest Suitable Microprocessor-SOM Module for LINUX

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDA4VM

Hi,

Kindly suggest the suitable Microprocessor-SOM module for our below Application requirement.

SOM Specification/Requirement:

  1. ARM 7/Higher or x86 Microprocessor
  2. RAM 2/4GB
  3. 32/64GB EMMC
  4. It should run with LINUX-UBUNTU
  5. It should run/support with TENSORFLOW 2.0
  6. Initial Boot time should be minimum like MYRIAD and not like Raspberry PI.
  7. We don’t do Video/Display, just watching the activity of the image.

Application INTERFACING: (We design Carrier board with required driver circuit for the below interfacing, but SOM IO’s should support for below interfacing)

  1. Camera: CSIMIPI Interface (Ex: OV9282 or Sony IMX378)
  2. Buzzer/Mobile Speaker
  3. USB-1
  4. LED-1
  5. IR LED 850nm
  6. Micro SD Card
  7. Switch-1

Thanks and regards,

Naveen K

  • Hi,

We are awaiting for your response. Please suggest.

With addition to above post please see our application requirement.

    APPLICATION REQUIREMENT:

OS will be LINUX/UBUNTU. Bootup time should be <10sec. Our Application run in Raspberry-pi4 will be OK but in MYRIAD will be superb.

    No need Communication, Video, Display.

Just Camera Interface to Monitor the activity/movements and store the pre-defined activity images in SD Card.

    USB required for Programing.

    Thanks and regards,

  • Naveen,

Have you looked at the offerings of the TDA4VM - https://www.ti.com/product/TDA4VM ? It seems to satisfy most of your requirements.

Note that TI does not provide an SDK that runs Ubuntu - we provide native Linux using Yocto.

Request you to go through the hardware and software documentation in the above link. These types of discussions are best had with the TI Sales/field. Please connect with them directly and engage further.

    Regards

    Karthik

  • Hi Karthik,

    Thank you for the information.

    1. TI providing SOM Modules?

    2. Our present application program runs in Raspberry Pi and Myriad VPN without any modification on application program. So this same application without modification runs in TDA4VM ?

    3. If TDA 4VM should be runs Ubuntu, then we need to develop our own OS/SDK, right?

    4. Can we have INDIA, Bangalore region TI Sales/Field Engineer Mail ID?

    Thanks and regards,

    Naveen K

  • Naveen,

    1. TI provides EVM, details are available on the product page link that I shared above.

    2. Without knowing the details of the application, it will be hard to comment. You will have to make this determination by looking at the details of the SDK.

    3. You can develop on your own or work with a partner who can provide this Ubuntu enablement on TI platforms.

    4. I have notified my field team they will reach out to you.

    Regards

    Karthik
