Question on LED orientation

Hello,

I would like to ask a question on LED orientation.

For a LED like http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=160-1169-1-ND

Does the green line side indicate anode or cathode? How should I orient it?

clearly shows that the green line is the cathode. and the cathode should be connected to negative.

I should add that markings for LEDs are generally for the cathode, so flat sides on round LEDs, green stripes, shorter lead, etc. all show the cathode, which is the negative side. Good luck!
