System User Guide Clarification - Reserved Values

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C5515

The TMS320C5515 System User Guide (Titled "TMS3320C5515 DSP System User's Guide", Literature number SPRUFX5, dated October 2010) has a comment that is a little confusing.

On page 40, where the PCGCR1 reserved field, bit 5, is defined, it shows the value as 0, but states that "you must always write a 1 to this bit."  What is the correct value to be written here?  The same question can be applied to CGCR1, bit 15 on page 30.

Will someone with authority verify these settings for me, please?

  • What shows in the figure is the reset value of the register. The statement in the table is the correct setting to use the chip.

So, both bits you asked have to have a 1 to function properly.

To further explain the operation of the chip. The value in the figure is the reset value, and the setting in the table is the correct setting to operate. So, the bootloader in the chip will set correct operating setting to perform the bootloading scheme. So if you check the value of PCGCR1, bit 5 is a 1.

    Regards.
