This has been my experience as well. For us C6EzRun is not an option.

No one in TI's OpenMAX expert group has outlined how OpenMAX is going to work with DSP codec server or explained TI's recommended approach to integrate DSP codec server into the Netra OpenMAX (IVAHD+HDVPSS) video/audio chain.

VISA api and codec engine  has long been TI's way of supporting audio/video/image and custom IUniversal codecs for ARM+DSP development.

We need clarification and direction from TI as to how best to get these different frameworks (codec engine/OpenMAX) working together.

A document or user guide that explains this would be a good start, followed by example code showing how OpenMAX+DSP will work.
