DM355 and ONFI NAND

Is there a document or wiki to explain how the DM355 (silicon 1.4) reads an ONFI compatible NAND, and how this can determine the NAND parameters?

I have a NAND device that is not on the RBL table, and the 4th byte does not match the look up table.

However, the NAND device and the DM355 are both ONFI compatible. How does this help get the NAND parameters? I have found several places that will just say that if both are ONFI compatible then it is OK, but I would like more details about how this works.

Thanks

Jamie

  • If a NAND is detected to be ONFI compatible, the information from the ONFI parameter page will be read by  the ROM and is used to interface with NAND.

  • Hi,

I am using Dm8168 processor with onfi 256 gb nand, in linux kernel detects as a ONFI device and got the manufacturer as well as read id, then modified the ids_table according to my device id but memory does not initialize only 64 KB detects.

How my nand will be work, what need to modified in the linux kernel.

If any patch is available to support onfi support please provide me.

    Thansk,
    Vidya
