about wince update

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DM3730

Hi all;

We're using DM3730, WinCE BSP A8_01_01_00_patch_01,

the A8_01_01_00_patch_01 requie update to "Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Monthly Update November 2010"

but the DVSDK just required to "Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Monthly Update May 2010" [Please refer : dvsdk_wince_01_11_00_02\docs\DVSDK WinCE -  Getting Started Guide.pdf].

Which should we update to? please advise. thanks.

  • Sorry for misleading data - both DVSDK 01.11.00 and BSP 01.01.00 releases have been tested with Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Monthly Update November 2010.

For BSP, it is a requirement to update to Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Monthly Update November 2010 but for DVSDK release, it is advisable to move to Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Monthly Update November 2010.

  • atfer installing the monthly update November 2010, with WinCE media player(using the TI codec ), we can not play "omap4ad1_h264vid_mpeg1l3aud_d1ntsc_4mbps.avi". It must be have some problem with the update.

  • Jack

Did you apply only the November 2010 update or all monthly updates till Nov 2010? You must apply all updates till Nov 2010

Also, did you perform a rebuild solution after applying the updates? A rebuild solution is a must

If you test using the demo images (http://software-dl.ti.com/sdoemb/sdoemb_public_sw/wince_sdk/latest/index_FDS.html), does the same clip work for you? Test using Nk_demo.bin image.

Are there any errors seen on the console when you play the clip (enable OAL retail messages option in the eboot)?

Are you building the DVSDK source package or just using the DVSDK binary package supplied by BSP? Is 720p enabled in catalog? if yes, then disable it, build BSP and test again. It is a known issue that h264 D1 doesnt work when 720p is enabled. Can you test using MPEG4 or MPEG2 video file?

  • Thanks Madhvi, after clear the 720p catalog item, we can play the clip now.

  • Hi Madhvi:

Can you confirm if microsoft's 2010 rollup update compatible with TI's lastest BSP-"BSP_WINCE_ARM_A8_01_01_00_patch_01" and dvsdk_wince_01_11_00_02?

    Regards,

    Jack

  • Hi Jack

We have tested the BSP+DVSDK with upto Nov 2010 updates installed. We havent tested DVSDK against Dec 2010 updates. Looking at the release notes for 2010 rollup update, I dont see anything for Dec 2010 that should break DVSDK but since we havent tested it, I cannot be 100% sure. Are you seeing any issues after applying 2010 rollup update?

    -Madhvi

  • No, we're not finding any issues with it so far. one of our partner can not found monthly update in microsoft's web site now and they want us to confirm if the BSP and TI DVSDK compatible with the 2010 rollup update.

    Regards,

    Jack
