TDA4VM: TDA4 Jacinto 7 board troubleshooting

Hi Experts,

Our customer is having hardware trouble with TDA4 board they are using.

They applied DC 12V-10A power to the board and the Red light blinks once on LD3 and booting does not work. there is also no yellow light on LD5,6,7 but I confirmed that the LD2 continues to light on yellow. The board also has no physical damage.

They have been using the board continuously and are applying a Tc temperature of 125'C to the memory for the memory test. and the issue has occurred that the power does not turn on suddenly.

Does this mean that the board is dead? is there any other reason behind this?

Is this on an EVM or on a customer PCB? Can you elaborate on how they are applying the high temp condition? In an oven or with a thermostream? Is the heat localized to the SoC or to the DDR memory chip?

They are applying the high temp with a finger chamber. this presses the DRAM and heat the DRAM.

Not in an oven. not Ta Temp. This is Tc temp.

The heat is localized on DDR. However, the heat can transfer to SoC due to proximity.

The customer is using an EVM.

Does the board recover when the DDR chip is cooled off? Can you increase the DDR Refresh Rate to 4x the original.

Hi Kyle,

The device does not turn on even if the customer does not heat it up. and the power doesn't turn on at all, so they can't change the refresh rate either.

It appears to me that the board is damaged. Can you confirm?

I agree ... it sounds like it's damaged. They can pursue a return as follows:

If bought through the TI Store or PO(purchased from TI directly), the correct path to return is: https://www.ti.com/productreturns/docs/createReturn.tsp

Else, if purchased through a distributor they need to follow the distributor process they purchased through.
