Vrfb rotation and X

I have recently been attempting to run X in a portrait orientation via the omap vrfb rotation. If i enable vrfb (without even having it rotate) via the kernel parameters, X will no longer boot and fails with a seg fault. Meanwhile, if i only disable the vrfb via kernel parameters it immediately will start up. Is there a workaround for this issue, or possibly a patch?

To be honest I have never tried X personally at my end but I haven't heard anything like this before, neither with X nor with any open source application (like DirectFB, etc...). Can you please provide me complete bootargs which you are using? Also can you please conform that you do not see any error/warning message during bootup?

Everything seems normal during boot. I have also read on various other forums online of others having similar issues.

As for the kernel parameters passed, they are as follows: "mem=80M@0x80000000 mem=128M@0x88000000 noinitrd root=/dev/mtdblock5 rw rootfstype=jffs2 consoleblank=0 omapfb.debug=y omapfb.vrfb=y omap-dss.debug=y"

A quick caveat on the system that is running, an additional partition has been added to function as an updating bootloader, that's why it is mtdblock5 vs mtdblock4.

This is exactly what I have read, but I could not find a patch or any further information regarding the fixes they made.

You may want to ping "Eino-Ville Talvala" about this, or "Koen Kooi", since he had requested the patch to him so he might have it.

I emailed both individuals. Koen replied quickly explaining he never got a response and just avoided using the vrfb when possible. I'm still awaiting a response from Eino-Ville.
